Lance Barresi, co-owner and founder of Chicago/L.A.-based Permanent Records, knows a thing or two about vinyl. And through countless days, weeks and years of foraging, he now offers up Brown Acid: The First Trip; the first of four volumes of heretofore unknown proto-metal and hard rock, dropping on Riding Easy Records come August 25th. This compilation will stone fans of Blue Cheer, Deep Purple and early Sabbath, among others, and stands as a testament to the talented underbelly of even the smallest scenes across America some 45 years prior. KZFR caught up with Lance to discuss the painstaking process and pleasure in putting together such a thing, as well as the state of records on the whole. Enjoy.
