Put A Face To The Voice Behind The Mic
Week #2: We are proud to introduce you to KZFR's morning DJs:
David, Jim, Steve, Rick, Dan & Hondo!
Woody & Friends co-host David Guzzetti. "I started Woody & Friends more than 25 years ago when I eagerly joined the KZFR family. I was the lone programmer on the show until 2015 when I sought help due to some health concerns. I've had guests on the show often because I love the community connections of KZFR. I praise our staff & volunteers for all their work. My version of W & F is eclectic that includes a lot of traditional political folk songs as well as Americana music in the Woody Guthrie spirit."
Facets of Jazz co-host Jim Schmidt. Jim alternates hosting with fellow programmers Lisa Boyd & Mark Bloom. On the 2nd Tuesday of each month, Jim usually does a theme-focused show across a wide variety of players, styles & eras-with slightly more emphasis on great keyboard players. "I also feature local jazz musicians in every show & produce a locals-exclusive show every year. My Valentine's Show is always a sweet treat. Plus count on at least one Hammond B3 tune to satisfy your soul."
Celt Radio host Steve O'Bryan. Steve has been a supporter of KZFR from the beginning when it was still just a dream of Erik Mathisen's in the late 1980s. For almost 30 years, he has brought you the haunting refrains of Celtic melodies old & new every Wednesday. Plus he has served on the Board for many years.
Run The Gamut host Rick Carr. For over 25 years Rick has entertained you with a variety of musical styles from jazz, folk and blues to contemporary and cutting edge rock every Thursday.
Radio Free Chico host Dan Robles. Dan has been with KZFR since the beginning. For many of those years he has taken you on a World Music tour & chatted you up on local issues along the way every Friday.
Bon Matin! host David "Hondo" Hernandez. Member of the Chico community since 1980, Hondo is a retired firefighter. A Programmer since the late 90’s on Creole Stomp with Mary Ryker. Now host of Bon Matin!, on Saturdays enjoys Louisiana and Baja and Joie de vivre! Dave got a firehouse nickname “Hondo” based on a Louis L’amour book and John Wayne movie. He and his Catahoula, Boozoo can be found enjoying the park in between Saturday shows.
