Domestic Violence Awareness

Domestic violence is the leading cause of injury to women between the ages of 15 and 44 in the United States, more than car accidents, muggings, and rapes combined.  These women and children need a safe place to go – in Butte County, that place is Catalyst Domestic Violence Services.

To raise awareness to stop the cycle of domestic violence, Catalyst Domestic Violence Services is teaming with the community including the Chico Chamber of Commerce, local area businesses and UnitedHealthcare to bring attention to National Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October. Catalyst is a nonprofit organization that provides services such as emergency and transitional housing, counseling, crisis intervention, legal assistance, 24-hour crisis line, and community education and prevention services.

For the last five years, UnitedHealthcare employees in Chico have conducted a food drive to benefit Catalyst Domestic Violence Services by raising thousands of pounds of food collected by UnitedHealthcare employees as part of a month-long food drive.

This year, we are launching a public service campaign to expand the community participation in the month-long food drive to benefit Catalyst Domestic Violence Services.  The campaign raises the awareness about domestic violence and the resources available.

As a broadcaster, we know you are committed to informing your listeners about important community issues.  We ask that you broadcast the attached 30-second public service announcement audio files, or use the scripts below for your announcers to voice. Should you wish to inform your listeners on your news or public affairs program, we would be happy to work with you to coordinate a local guest.  The PSA can run through now through the end of October 2014.
