Obligated to the Truth Film Screening

On September 3, 2014, in a remote area 28 miles from Oroville,  the body of student activist Marc Thompson was discovered in his car which was engulfed in flames. He had been shot numerous times.  This horrific murder took place during the tumultuous and violent beginnings of the Black Lives Matter Movement, just a month after Ferguson. Within months it became a cold case.

OBLIGATED TO THE TRUTH: The Story of Murdered Student Activist Marc Thompson reveals how Marc's death left two campuses and several communities in shock and a lingering, unresolved traumatic grief.

The film was produced with the goal of making Marc's life more than just another violent homicide that our nation accumulates on a daily basis. The screening on September 21st is a fundraiser for the Marc Thompson Memorial Scholarship at Butte Community College, which is dedicated to assisting those students, who like Marc, seek to dedicate their lives to justice for all.

Screening Saturday, Sept. 21st, Doors open at 6:30 pm, Film at 7:00 pm
