Thanks to 20 Local Non-Profits!

Thank you to EVERYONE who volunteered during KZFR's Fall  2016 pledge drive. We could not do it without you!

Much appreciation goes to 20 local non-profit groups for supporting community radio by answering the phones during the pledge drive! We appreciate your volunteer time and efforts. 

The following 4 went above and beyond by staffing multiple shifts... Chico Certified Farmers Market, Chico Housing Action Team, Disability Action Center & the Idea Fab Labs! Please, scroll down to see the full list of all the non-profit groups who volunteered.

Chico Certified Farmers Market - "The CCFM provides a unique opportunity for farmers and vendors to sell directly to the consumer by hosting State Certified Farmers’ Markets. Our first Farmers’ Market began in Chico, CA in July of 1980. Our market moved several times before we found our ideal home at our current location in the City of Chico Municipal Parking Lot #1 at 2nd and Wall Streets in Downtown Chico, CA."

Chico Housing Action Team - "The mission of the CHAT is to ensure that every person in our community has access to fair and adequate shelter and sanitation."

Disability Action Center - "DAC helps community members with disabilities to achieve and/or maintain their optimal level of self-reliance and independence."

Idea Fab Labs - "Meet and collaborate with people who are interested in electronics, programming and future-art. Idea Fab Labs is an open source, do-it-yourself culture! We offer membership usage of various digital fabrication tools and traditional tools. We facilitate educational classes and workshops including weekly scheduled Safety and Basic Use classes as well as a rotating catalog of offerings on more advanced and specialized topics, including guest teachers."

Aqua Alliance - "AquAlliance exists to defend northern California waters and to challenge threats to the hydrologic health of the northern Sacramento River watershed. We are prepared and willing to confront the escalating attempts to divert more and more water from the northern Sacramento River hydrologic region." 

Butte Co. Child Abuse Prevention - "BCCAP is a coalition dedicated to the prevention, intervention and treatment of child abuse. Its objectives are to increase public awareness of child abuse and neglect, strengthen families and to provide education and professional training."

Butte Environmental Council - "Our mission is to protect and defend the land, air and water of Butte County and the surrounding region."

Butte Humane Society - "We are one of the oldest non-profit agencies in Butte County, California, working since 1911 to bring humanitarian care to dogs, cats and other animals. We are a Limited Admission shelter that strives to make our animals as comfortable as possible during their stay with us. Our Mission: Saving Lives. Finding Homes. Inspiring Compassion."

Catalyst - "Catalyst is committed to serving the needs of all victims of domestic violence and their children regardless of ethnicity, citizenship, language, religion, physical disabilities, sexual orientation, gender identity or HIV status." 

Chico 350 - "We are residents of Butte County, California coming together to combat climate change. Chico 350 aims to raise awareness and empower individuals to take local action toward reducing the effects of climate change."

Chico Natural Foods Co-Op - "Chico Natural Foods Cooperative visualizes a food industry where refinement, manipulation, packaging, and synthetic ingredients are kept to a minimum - an industry that cares about the environment and the health of its people."

Chico Peace and Justice Center - "Building justice through peace and peace through justice. The center works for social change through education, community building, and direct action and is dedicated to bringing an end to violent conflict among nations and individuals."

Chico Science Fair - "CSF provide guidance to the Chico Science Fair and ensure the continued availability and vitality of this community-wide celebration of scientific inquiry for the student citizens of Chico, Calif."

Chico Sol - "Border-crossing journalism from the Sacramento Valley. Our Mission is to address social issues in the northern Sacramento Valley through cross-cultural journalism and civic action; to disseminate professional writing and support young writers."

Chico Velo - "Chico Velo offers a wide range of programs that you can get involved in and start the whole family cycling."

Downtown Chico Business Association - "Created in 1975, the DCBA was formed by a small group of downtown business owners recognizing the need to plan for the future of downtown and ensure its economic vitality."

GRUB - "Growing Resourcefully Uniting Bellies. Nonprofit Community Supported Agriculture, food education ,organics, and communal living."

Jesus Center Farm - "The vocational job skills training programs at the Jesus Center offer the opportunity to establish a work history, develop soft skills, and build references. Ranging from roles in the Jesus Center kitchen, working on a landscaping crew, being a part of the Bloomin’ Hope Flower Cart, or working at the Jesus Center Farm, our guests are investing in their own futures."

Paradise Community Guilds - Newly renamed Paradise Grange is now the Norton Buffalo Hall "Build Community - Support Local Agriculture - Promote Sustainable Living - Education."

Sacramento River Preservation Trust - "Our organization serves California to protect, preserve, and enhance, the natural and cultural values of the Sacramento River, while also supporting ecologically sound farming practices within the Sacramento River Watershed."

Stonewall Alliance - "Stonewall Alliance is committed to cultivating a safe, open, inclusive environment for all members of the gender and sexual minority (GSM)* and ally community. Stonewall Alliance unites, strengthens, and affirms the community through support, resources, education, advocacy, and celebration. Stonewall Alliance exists to provide a connection to community in an effort to lessen isolation of, strengthen the spirit of, and give voice to the disenfranchised."
