American Pastimes features contemporary string bands, a couple of sea songs by Dan Zanes, bluegrass from the Abrams Brothers and the Bluegrass Album Band, a killer jam featuring Jethro Burns & Norman Blake & Vassar Clements, Maria Muldaur with Dan Hicks, Maria's ex- Geoff Muldaur, Jorma Kaukonen, sets of songs by old-time southern fiddle bands and old-time African-American string bands, and then some high-energy songs about drinkin' and not drinkin'.
