January 13, 2021 - Dr. Firmin DeBrabander, Parks Commissioner Anna Moore

In the aftermath of the insurrection at the Capitol, Dr. Firmin DeBrabander talks about his article in the Atlantic Magazine entitle The Gun-Rights Movement Fed America’s Insurrectionist Fever Dreams.

DeBrabander writes, “Much of the blame for last week’s horrific assault on the Capitol lies with the president and his allies; that much is clear. But another force in society has done more than its part, inculcating insurrectionist fantasies in the American mind for decades: the gun-rights movement.”  The article goes on to discuss the marketing strategies of the gun manufactures, using the ideas of freedom, self-defense and the counter measure to a tyrannical government.

Chico Parks Commissioner Anna Moore talks about her reaction to the police evictions of unsheltered people from Lower Bidwell Park.
