Radio Camp For Local Youth
KZFR is proud to announce the return of our "Youth Broadcasting Program"!
Youth (ages 12-17yrs) will learn how to create and host their own community radio show. As an educational organization, KZFR offers comprehensive training in the historical, legal, and technical aspects of non-commercial radio broadcasting to the community as a whole and is eager to share this unique experience with the youth of northern California.
Local youth of the Boys & Girls Club of the North Valley had their introduction to the Radio Camp last week and all seemed eager to get behind the mic.
"The Youth Broadcasting Program will teach students not just the skills needed to create, produce and host a community radio show but also many valuable life & work skills (critical thinking, creativity, teamwork and more) that obviously can be used in a variety of careers. Whether the youth is an aspiring journalist, musician, dj or broadcaster, KZFR is confident that our Youth Broadcasting Program will give them the skills and confidence to achieve their goals." - Grant C. Parks, KZFR General Manager
"We feel this valuable opportunity not only gives our youth the chance to gain communication skills but also the encouragement to find their own voices. In this fast-paced society we are not always caring about the opinion of our youth. This often makes them feel their thoughts don't matter. This program is one of the first to help them find their voice and have it valued by their peers & the community. By partnering with KZFR, which represents many different voices, our youth will have the opportunity to hear varying ideas and opinions. This will help them be more informed as they develop their own unique individual voices." - Hoppie Campos, Area Director of the Boys & Girls Club of the North Valley
KZFR is honored to offer this training to local youth free of charge. If you'd like to support this effort, please, click the donate tab above. Thank you.
