Meet Your KZFR DJ Wk 1

Put A Face To The Voice Behind The Mic

KZFR is shortening the distance in social distancing by giving you, our listeners, a chance to meet your favorite KZFR DJ. You'll now be able to put a face to the voice behind the microphone with our Meet Your KZFR DJ campaign.

Every day during this campaign, KZFR will feature an on-air DJ with a social media vignette about themself, their radio program, personal interests, and more. This'll give you the opportunity to get better connected with the personalities you wake up and go to sleep listening to. In the time of stay-at-home orders we want our listeners to know that their community radio station is working hard to deliver cutting edge news and information and one-of-a-kind music selections.

It's thanks to them, our volunteer DJs, that KZFR can continue to bring you the unique programming you value and enjoy every day.

Week #1: We are proud to introduce you to KZFR's early morning DJs: Anna, Dan, Kozmic Kev, David & John!

Native Song co-host Anna Kastner.  "It is an honor to share this wonderful music with all of you. It has been my intention to show the different sounds of Native music. Featuring Native-American music from traditional to contemporary and anything in between. Wake up with Carlos Nakai, Coyote Old Man, Cedar Tree, Joan Shenandoah, Mary Youngblood and many more. Learn about new Native Artists Stay tuned for the calendar of events. Awake to a journey of indigenous sounds from around the globe."

O'Dark:30 host Dan Carter. "I love getting up early in the morning to help you start your day with great music. I play mood music...whatever I'm in the mood to play, usually with equal distribution of male and female artists. My musical tastes have many influences that bring to light a plethora of genres and styles. You'll hear Americana, blues, funk, folk, rock with a lot of my old favorites sprinkled in. Truly a musical cornucopia! Call me at 530.895.0131 and make a request, chances are good that it will come up next!"

Bohemian Express host Kevin Durkin. Kozmic Kev brings you reggae, hiphop & rock music plus interviews with political dissidents and mainstream personalities every Wednesday morning.

Five Mile & Then Some host David Fuhs. "I feature local artists (Big Mo, Hannah Jane Kile, Low Flying Birds, Bahapki, Dylan’s Dharma, etc.), visiting artists (recently, even though some of the shows were cancelled: Rita Hosking, Todd Snider, Tracorum, Tim Bluhm, Moonalice), and prolific friends of the station (Jackie Greene, Tim Flannery, etc.) for you every Thursday morning."

Rhythmic Storm host John WC. "The collection of music I play is primarily instrumental. I believe instruments can convey emotion without language, beyond any language barriers. When words are not there, it also allows the narrative of the song to be your own creation. My show attempts to take the listener on a unique musical journey every Saturday morning."
