It’s our 18th Birthday this month – KZFR signed on the air in July of 1990! Thanks to all our volunteers and supporters through the early years and those who make community radio flourish today. Please join us at our birthday party on Sunday, July 27th at Grilla Bites to celebrate and meet Amy Terhorst, our newly hired Development Director.
Tune in Tuesday night July 8th at 7:15 for the next in our series of live broadcasts from the Sierra Nevada Big Room when we feature the Paul Thorn Band, who are “the best kept secret in the music business," according to Kris Kristofferson.
Paul Thorn does blues, roots, country, gospel, etc. but his writing is what he's most known for. His current album is #1 on the Americana charts. "The real deal comes along infrequently these days…word of a record this good will spread." S.F. Chronicle.

Everywhere he performs, he draws an immediate, enthusiastic response. Thorn writes and performs songs taken from life - good times, bad times, and everything in between. His songs are often constructed on the universal themes of love, loss, and yearning. But far from ever sounding commonplace, Thorn is able to weave in a slightly loopy Southern sense of the unexpected that draws you in and never lets you go. This is Southern soul/rock at its best.

July also signals the beginning of our fiscal year – a year in which the station is looking to make even more progress. One of our first projects will be the construction of a new broadcast studio and, with Amy Terhorst on board, expect other exciting developments as well. One of her first projects will be to add to our member benefits. If you haven’t made a contribution recently, you may make your secure donation online here to help us get this new fiscal year off to a strong start.
We are looking forward to including an expanding variety of voices from the community – both individuals and organizations – to answer the telephones during our fall membership drive and to join us on the air to discuss why they support KZFR and community radio. If you would like to join our fundraising efforts to create fun and dynamic programming during the membership drive, please contact Amy at (530) 566-1944 or via email: amy@kzfr.org. Our goal is to again increase the number of new members who contribute to their community radio station by at least 100.
Thanks to everyone for helping cultivate community with homegrown radio, KZFR 90.1 FM. We’d like to especially thank those who have signed up for our automatic monthly donation program. Contact jill@kzfr.org if interested in finding out more about this easy way to support KZFR.
And remember, you may mail your contribution to KZFR, P.O. Box 3173, Chico, CA 95927 anytime. We do count on all of your incredibly generous support for community radio here in the North Valley. Thank you again for your ongoing support and remember -- keep your dial tuned to 90.1 FM or listen via our live stream over the internet.

We’re
looking for volunteers to help distribute program guides in our listener

the guides. We also need volunteers to
keep the guides stocked and current. We especially need your help in
the far reaches of our KZFR “footprint.” Call the
