Adopt-A-Highway Volunteer Work Day

Location: Highway 99
    • 9:00am12:00pm Wednesday, January 15, 2014

The Butte County Resource Conservation District (BCRCD) along with the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) are pleased to announce the recent adoption of a four-mile stretch of highway through the Caltran’s Adopt-A-Highway Program. The mission of the Butte County Resource Conservation District is to protect, enhance, and support Butte County natural resources and agriculture by working with willing land owners and citizens through education, land management, and on-the-ground projects.

Wednesday, January 15, 2014 will be our second Adopt-A-Highway Volunteer Work Day (depending on the weather) to continue this valuable work! Volunteers are needed from 9 a.m. - 12 noon to help cleanup litter and make a positive statement to visitors and residents regarding litter along Butte County roadways. Interested volunteers should meet at 9 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 99 and Highway 162 in the parking lot west of Highway 99 (see map). It is recommended to wear long pants, long sleeves, and sturdy boots. Bring your own food and water; safety gear and work supplies will be provided. The BCRCD is currently seeking donations from local businesses to help provide food and water for volunteers on future work days.

The BCRCD and NRCS believe that this Adopt-A-Highway Program is an excellent example of the private and public sectors working together to solve a mutual problem. Please join our conservation team and help us improve Butte County for all! For more information please contact Sam Rossi, Butte County RCD.
