As part of the Butte Environmental Council’s Code Blue Water campaign, a forum will be held on the proposed Bay Development Conservation Plan and its Twin irrigation bypass Tunnels that would deliver much of the Sacramento River into irrigation pumps while bypassing the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta. Critics are concerned that the project will entice farmers into selling river water they are entitled to, and replacing it by pumping water from deep underground, draining the local aquifer and eventually causing environmental havoc. The meeting is scheduled for Thursday from 6:00-7:00pm at the Blue Oak charter School, 450 West East Avenue in Chico. For more information call 891-6424
