Talking Criminal Justice: Language and the Just Society

Location: Selvester's Cafe on CSU, Chico campus
  • 12:00pm2:00pm Friday, April 5, 2013

On Friday, April 5th  at noon in Selvester’s Café (SELV 100), Professor Michael Coyle will present an analysis of the topic of his recently published book, Talking Criminal Justice:  Language and the Just Society.  This  provocative work argues that the  language we use to talk about justice constructs “criminals” and guides us toward justice solutions that do not accord with our commonly held commitment to “equal justice for all.” Please join us and encourage your students to attend what promises to be a lively and thought provoking presentation and discussion based upon Professor Coyle’s path breaking ethnographic analysis of the language of justice. For additional information call Alan Gibson x898-4952.
