The Valene L. Smith Museum of Anthropology will host naval historian Bob Benner at the monthly World Explorations Lecture Series on Sunday, November 4, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m..
Mr. Benner will explore the history of navigation from celestial navigation to the compass and beyond. See authentic navigational instruments from Mr. Benner’s extensive historical collection and discover how humans have mapped the surface of the earth for thousands of years.
The talk is free and open to the public. The Valene L. Smith Museum of Anthropology is located on the first floor of the Meriam Library.
The museum space is currently closed to prepare for the next exhibition, Infinity and Beyond: Humanity’s Quest to Explore Space. The exhibition will run December 9, 2012 through July 2013.
